The filati (which the mosaic is made from) is made from Italian Smalti (Also known as mosaic glass). The colour will never fade and is completely weather proof.
The silver can be kept bright by gently polishing it with a soft cloth and the tiniest amount of a silver metal polish if necessary annually.
